SAMSARA-BY KHADIJA BATOOL

Raani

This voluminous, 6 yard ghair, front open peshwas consists of 8 types of hand work techniques. The bodice is intricately covered with hand-aar jaal with heavy zardozi and block printed pattis going all the way from the neckline to the center slit and converging into a snug belt around the waist. The trough shaped back is delicately stringed with a bejeweled patti with a center baali motif and hangings. The chiffon sleeves are made in two types of mukesh patterns, further enhanced with delicate sequin and zari work. Linear gota and sheesha work runs through the flair of the dress. The hemline is finished with a 5 inch heavy resham and zardozi border with floral and bird details. The lehnga is made in pure raw silk. It is block printed by hand and then embellished with antique zardozi and vibrant silk French knots. The first dupatta is thickly bordered with multi coloured thread and mirror work, further spread into a thicker zardozi and gota work border. The pallus are picturesquely composed with flying bird motifs. Each bird is made in the finest resham, mukesh, farisha and zardozi details. The negative space in the dupatta is covered with gota booti and pearl and sequin spray. The second dupatta comes with a 4 inch thick intricate scallop border that goes on all 4 sides. The work on the scallops is a combination of delicate resham, gota, and zardozi details. The center of this dupatta is covered with diagonal gota and mirror work lines that go through the length of the dupatta. For finishing, the fresh lime shade is contrasted wih a fuchsia coloured, zari patterned organza.
